Words Of Appreciation
Our agency frequently receives recognition for the care we have provided to a patient or someone’s loved one. Many tell us they don't have the words to describe their appreciation and simply say "Thanks." Below are comments and letters from patients and family members sharing their gratitude.
Heartland Hospice Serving Albuquerque and Belen Receives Heartfelt Thank You Letters from Families
Working in hospice takes a strong will, a full heart and plenty of compassion. When that compassion reaches our patients' families, that's when we know we have truly lived out our Mission. Heartland Hospice Serving Albuquerque and Belen recently received testimonials from family members of patients citing the compassionate care their loved ones received:
"Dearest Heartland - As difficult as it was to realize that my precious son would not be able to win his battle to extend his life. Heartland was there to make his short time left not only bearable, but thoughtful. We were blessed to have each of you help him, take care of him and speak to him in your sweet ways about what is beyond... it was so beautiful and so well given. You are all so genuinely loving and compassionate and excellent at loving patients through their final journey. Thank you."
-Mother of a hospice patient
"There are not enough words to express my gratitude to everyone at Heartland Hospice for the care you provided for our Mom. It was not just the care, but the peace you gave her in the last few months of her life and also the peace you gave me by being there. A special thank you to those who cared for her. She loved all of you."

Heartland Hospice Sponsors Annual Remembrance Ceremony
Heartland Hospice serving Albuquerque and Belen recently sponsored and participated in the annual Remembrance Ceremony held by the University of New Mexico Oncology Department.
The department has held the Remembrance Ceremony for that past 10 years to honor the patients on their service who have passed away. While honoring the patients, it is not unusual to see many of the staff in tears. This shows their compassion for the patients and their own grief at the passing of people for whom they so lovingly cared for.
The most moving part of the ceremony is the rose offering. Each patient who has passed away is memorialized with a long-stemmed white rose tagged with his or her name. As attendees arrive, they are each asked to take a white rose. During the program, the names of the deceased are read out loud and the person who has the white rose for that individual comes to the podium and places the rose in a vase.
Over the year, many of the patients being remembered have been cared for by Heartland Hospice. This year, Heartland chose to sponsor the entire event as a way of recognizing not only the patients, but their caregivers as well. In recognition of Heartland’s sponsorship, the staff gifted the team a beautiful plaque for the office lobby.
Heartland Hospice was truly honored to be a part of this event.
