Heartland Hospice Serving West Central Wisconsin Nominated for Sunshine Award

Heartland Hospice Serving West Central Wisconsin was recently nominated for the Sunshine Award. WEAU 13 News, the NBC-affiliated television station for Western Wisconsin, started the Sunshine Awards in 1985 as a way for WEAU viewers to publicly thank others for acts of kindness and good deeds. Since then, WEAU has shared many special stories and presented the nominations with the entire Western Wisconsin area.
Tonya Jahnke, stepdaughter of a recent Heartland Hospice patient, nominated Heartland for the award. “I would like to nominate Heartland Hospice for the Sunshine Award. The Heartland nurses and staff cared for my stepfather, Charlie, when he was diagnosed with ALS. During the last days of Charlie’s life, the nurses, Jenna, Julie, Lisa, Scott and so many others, took such amazing care of him and my mom. They were kind, came to the house when we called and took time to explain the plan of care to us. The love and kindness they shared with my mom and our family is so appreciated. Thank you all so much for serving and sharing your hearts with us. We will always remember you!”
Laurice Hillman, Heartland Hospice Administrator, said, “I am proud of our team and their dedication to being helpful, caring and responsive to our patients and their families. Each team member strives to live our mission of enriching lives and that is evident in the care they provide.”
