Heartland Home Health and Hospice Serving Northeast Indiana recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony as they moved to a new building on Dupont Commerce Court in Fort Wayne, where they will continue to provide the same great home health and hospice care. At the same ceremony, they recognized World Hospice & Palliative Day with a proclamation signed by Mayor of Fort Wayne, Tom Henry. Fort Wayne’s Deputy Mayor, Karl Bandemer, was also in attendance. When asked about the ceremony and the building, Christy Naylor, manager of business development, stated, “Our new office gives our team of over 200 employees the space they deserve to continue to provide the excellent care to our patients and their families. Additionally, this also gives our team opportunities to host much-needed support groups for our community.”

Heartland Hospice serving Northeast Indiana and the ProMedica Hospice Memorial Fund recently donated $1,000 worth of books to Erin’s House for Grieving Children. Erin’s House provides support for children, teens and families who have experienced a death. Kathryn McLaughlin, a grief counselor and school liaison for Erin’s House, explained the books are used in “Grief Backpacks” that will be distributed across the area to local schools. These backpacks help provide support through age-appropriate books to children of all ages dealing with the grief of a loved one. According to Kathryn, it was the most perfect time for this donation to come through. Now that Erin’s House does not have the extra cost of books for their school program, they were able to spend their funds on snacks, goodies and other materials for children that will help enrich the grief program.

ProMedica Hospice Memorial Fund, formerly Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, and Heartland Home Health & Hospice Serving Northeast Indiana recently presented the Pat Dyer Memorial Fund with a $1,000 check.

The Pat Dyer Memorial Fund donates gas cards to patients seeking IV chemotherapies. Due to COVID-19, they were unable to hold their normal fundraisers to raise money for the gas cards. This foundation began after Pat Dyer passed away from cancer and her husband, Bud, formed the memorial fund to provide some financial relief to patients after recognizing that cancer patients couldn’t make it to chemotherapy treatments due to the financial distress of driving.

Heartland Home Health and Hospice has the honor of caring for cancer patients throughout all stages of their journeys and wanted to show this foundation appreciation on their compassionate impact.
