Hospice Team Adopts a Highway in Their Community
Heartland Hospice serving South Central Minnesota, recently adopted a highway in their area. As part of adopting a highway, the Heartland team cleans up the area along the highway twice a year and can display their name on the “Adopt-a-Highway” sign. Janelle Smith, manager of business development, tells about their first clean-up day.
“It was a beautiful morning for our first clean-up for ‘Adopt-a-Highway’. I thought this was a great way for our team to contribute to our community and help keep the area clean. We picked up garbage along two ditches on each side of the highway as well as the median. We were out there for about two and half hours and covered 1.75 miles. Jay, Greg and Sara, account liaisons, dedicated their time and joined in on the fun cleaning up and we had a great day! Lois, social worker, provided us water and treats that kept us energized throughout our time cleaning up. We are looking forward to our next clean-up day this fall!”
