ProMedica Hospice Nurse Practitioner Helps Honor Veteran Mother
ProMedica Hospice serving Chicagoland North (formerly Heartland Hospice), recently had the privilege of performing a We Honor Veterans Pinning Ceremony for Gladys, a patient and mother of one our own nurse practitioners, Marti Sullivan. Marti had shared with the team that her mother was a WWII Navy RN, and the team was honored to be given the opportunity to meet Gladys and give her the respect and acknowledgment she deserves. Family members joined in when Allison Becker, music therapist, played her guitar and sang the U.S. Navy song “Anchors Away” and other patriotic songs. Kathleen Kennedy, veteran liaison, presented Gladys with a We Honor Veterans pin, certificate and Navy-specific blanket made and donated by a volunteer.
“It was wonderful!” Gladys shared. “It was so thoughtful that someone had made this blanket for me.” Marti also mentioned how appreciative her family was that the team held the ceremony for her mother. “Mom loved it. She was all smiles!”
We thank Gladys for her service and her family for allowing us to share her story.
